How does dog daycare work at Friends Paw Life?
Dogs are collected from home each morning on our pick-up route, which runs from Aylesbury through Wendover, Aston Clinton, Weston Turville, Stoke Mandeville, Monks Risborough, Halton, Prestwood, and Princes Risborough to our Great Missenden facility. They spend the day at Rookwood Cottage, Frith Hill — taking part in group play, training activities, and outdoor adventures across our six themed areas. At the end of the day we drop them back home. The service is door-to-door with no extra charge for collection or return.
What is the difference between dog daycare and dog boarding?
Daycare runs Monday to Friday (and some weekends) and covers the hours when you are at work or unavailable — typically 07:00–18:00. Your dog comes home at the end of each day. Boarding is our overnight service: dogs stay in a private family home in Aylesbury rather than a kennel, and they join the daycare group at our Great Missenden facility during the day. Boarding dogs are never left in an empty building — they live as part of the household.
How much does dog daycare cost?
Daycare is priced at £35 per session. A session covers a full day including pick-up, drop-off, all activities, and training. We do offer discounts for multi dog households and full week bookings. There are further reductions available for longer stays and regular bookings. There is no extra charge for larger breeds — every dog pays the same rate regardless of size or weight.
What areas do you collect dogs from?
Our daily collection route covers Aylesbury (HP19, HP20, HP21), Weston Turville (HP22), Aston Clinton (HP22), Wendover (HP22), Stoke Mandeville (HP22), Halton (HP22), Monks Risborough (HP27), Askett (HP27), Princes Risborough (HP27), Prestwood (HP16), and Great Missenden (HP16). If you are not sure whether we cover your village, give us a call on 07768979878 and we will confirm.
Is home boarding safer than kennels for my dog?
For most dogs, yes — particularly those who are anxious, elderly, or used to a home environment. Our boarding is provided in a private family home in Aylesbury rather than a commercial kennel, which means your dog sleeps in a real living space, has human company throughout the evening and overnight, and is never housed in a run or cage. During the day, boarding dogs join our daycare group at Great Missenden, so they are active and socialised from morning to night.
Do you take all breeds and sizes of dogs?
Yes. We care for dogs of all sizes and breeds — from small terriers to large working breeds. There is no size premium: every dog pays the same session rate regardless of breed or weight. We assess each dog individually at the free meet and greet to ensure they are a good fit for the group dynamic, but breed alone is never a reason for refusal.
Are you licensed by the local authority?
Yes. Friends Paw Life holds two active animal activity licences issued by the local authority under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018: licence LC202311-129068 and licence LC202504-146849. Both licences cover day care and home boarding. We are also fully insured. Copies of our licences are available on request.
What happens at the free first session?
Your dog’s first session is completely free. It is a relaxed introduction to our facility, our team, and the other dogs in the group. You are welcome to ask any questions and have a look around. We use this session to assess how your dog settles in a group setting and to ensure the environment is a good fit for them. There is no obligation to book further sessions after the visit.
Can my dog attend daycare and boarding together?
Yes — this is how our boarding service is designed to work. Dogs on our boarding package spend the day at the Great Missenden daycare facility and overnight at our family home in Aylesbury. The two services run together seamlessly, so your dog is never sitting alone in a property during the day. If your dog is already a regular at daycare, the transition into boarding is usually very straightforward.
How do I book?
The first step is a free meet and greet — call us on 07768979878 or use the booking form on our website to arrange a time. Same-day appointments are available. After the meet and greet, we will confirm availability and set up your collection details. We cover the Aylesbury-to-Great Missenden corridor and can usually start within a few days of the initial visit.
